The Unexpected Pair; The Crush

Past

*bleep *bleep

"Could you please stop bothering me.... I'm trying to relax here!" as he received a text from his girlfriend. Rick didn't like clingy girls neither did he like girls who would get mad at him for no reason. His girlfriend would get mad at him if he didn't reply within 30 seconds and he could not take it. When Rick did reply, she wouldn't reply him because she was already too mad at him. "What does she freaking want!?" was something he would always wonder. "I love you, I am with you.. How much more do you want!?". He did not know what to do with her. He didn't have the courage to end it yet he didn't know whether should he even end it. Should he give her another chance? Should he have the patience to learn how to deal with her? The next day, he tried. He tried to change for her. He stopped playing his games, he stopped getting frustrated with her and he tried to be a better boyfriend.

He turned off his computer, swearing that he wouldn't be touching it the whole day. He got into his car, drove to the florist store which was near his house and bought a bouquet of roses. As he returned to his car his shoulder knocked against someone. He dropped his flowers and looked at the bouquet and it was ruined. 50 bucks wasted just like that. He felt as if God was punishing him. He looked at the stranger who bumped into him and saw that it was Kon. "Dude.. I just wasted 50 bucks because of you!" as he shouted in pure anger and clenched his fist. Kon, who knew something was definitely out of place asked him if everything was okay. As an apology, Kon bought a new bouquet of flowers but also treated him to coffee as he wanted to know what was wrong with Rick. Rick explained how frustrated he was with her but was confused about his decision to whether he should just end the relationship or let it continue. Kon told him to follow his heart. Kon advised him that if staying is what he wanted to do, then he should go with it but if he really couldn't stand the fact of having an over-attached girlfriend, that he should end it because things will just get worse and in the end, the break-up will be one made from anger and not peace. Rick wanted to just give it another try so he thanked Kon for the coffee and returned to his car. "I love you okay?" as he typed it in to his phone and sent the text to his girlfriend. When he got home, he found out that there was a football match going at the night so he told his girl that he would be watching the game.

2 hours later

He put on his Manchester United jersey, got his food and drinks and went in to sit in front of his 55" inch Samsung Glass TV. He passed the food to his father who was sitting beside him. Sweat ran down his face, his heart pumping and excitement grew in his eyes as his team scores. The match goes on for another hour and as the game ended, he shouted "MU FOREVER!" with his father. He was happy and he ran upstairs with an eager heart to tell his girlfriend the highlights of the game. As he picked up his phone, his heart stopped pumping with excitement, his eyes were no longer the same, he clenched his left fist and gripped his phone tighter. 96 missed calls and 50 text messages. He couldn't take it. He thought he could but he could no longer. He called her up and the first thing his girlfriend said was "Where the hell were you?!" and he told her that he was watching the game. She couldn't understand what he was saying and he couldn't take it. "He screamed with anger "It's over! I no longer wanna be with you!" and he hung up. There was total silence and tears ran down his face but his heart felt somehow, relieved.

Present

Sitting on his chair at his table, while scrolling through 9gag, he had nothing to do in class as he had completed his work. He was alone. He had no friends. All his friends were either in different colleges or in a different class. He felt so alone that all he wanted was just someone to talk to. He decided that he would call Kon and ask him whether would he like to have lunch. He lifted up his phone to level it with his eyes and his background appeared blur to him as his eyes concentrated on his phone to dial Kon's number. Then, his eyes moved, meeting with a girl wearing a floral romper. He strained, squinted and forced his eyes to get a glimpse of her name tag. His eyes met with hers, his heart pounding as he swallowed his saliva. He thought... "She's beautiful..."
